Importance of the embedding environment on the strain within small rings in siliceous materials
The effect of the local environment on the energetic strain within small SiO N rings with N=2,3 in silica materials is investigated via periodic model systems employing density functional calculations. Through comparison of the energies of various nonterminated systems containing small rings in strained and relatively unstrained environments, with alpha quartz, we demonstrate how small ring str...
متن کاملheterogeneity within the orientalist discourse: representation of the orient in womens travelogues and mens paintings
from 1950s onward, new theories and critical approaches burgeoned across humanities. these theories were context-oriented; as a result, the analysis of discursive practices gained significance. thus, social, political, historical and cultural discourses that have been hitherto marginalized and considered inferior to literary texts, were introduced as important texts to be analyzed by critics. o...
QCD Evolutions in the small–x Region
The curvature of DIS structure functions like F p 2 (x,Q ), i.e., its second derivative with respect to the photon’s virtuality Q at fixed values of x, plays a decisive role in probing the range of validity of perturbative QCD evolutions of parton distributions in the small-x region. This has been observed recently [1, 2, 3, 4] and it was demonstrated that NLO(MS) evolutions imply a positive cu...
متن کاملSmall Strain Hypoplasticity and Polyelastic Materials
This papers addresses the behaviour of hypoplastic equations near the reference configuration. By an approximation process, a general small strain hypoplastic equation is derived. Two particular equations are examined. It is shown that they can represent solids exhibiting different Young's moduli in compression and in extension.
متن کاملVelocity distributions in dissipative granular gases.
Motivated by recent experiments reporting non-Gaussian velocity distributions in driven dilute granular materials, we study by numerical simulation the properties of 2D inelastic gases. We find theoretically that the form of the observed velocity distribution is governed primarily by the coefficient of restitution eta and q=N(H)/N(C), the ratio between the average number of heatings and the ave...
